Minnesota Loves Fresh Air

A public opinion survey released early this month indicates sweeping support for the Freedom to Breathe Act, Minnesota’s statewide smoke-free law that took effect last October. The statewide survey, the first of its kind since the law was implemented, found that 76 percent of Minnesotans support the law, with 44 percent indicating strong support.

The survey found that strong majorities among all demographic groups favor the law (the chart below shows strong support among republicans and democrats and Metro and Greater MN), and that
support among Minnesotans has actually increased since the law was passed last spring.
